गेट्स को भायी, तेतरिया की चटाई

तेतरिया की खूबसूरती आखिरकार बिल गेट्स को भी लुभा गई। बांका जिले के कटोरिया प्रखंड स्थित सुदूर तेतरिया गांव पहुंचे गेट्स जब ताड़ के पत्तों की छतरी तलें बिछी चटाई पर बैठे तो उनके मुंह ही बरबस ही निकल पड़ा-'सोल आफ इंडिया इज रियली फाइन।' यह केवल शब्दों तक ही सीमित नहीं रही।
दुनिया के इस अमीर ने जब चटाई पर साथ बैठी भोली-भाली महिलाओं से बातचीत शुरू की तो समय की पाबंदी भी टूटने लगी। स्थिति यह रही कि उनके निजी सचिव बार-बार घड़ी की ओर इशारा करते रहे और वे लगातार उसे अनसुना करते गए। महिलाओं से उनके घर की बात, बाहर जाने पर उनकी स्थिति, पति का व्यवहार, आर्थिक विकास में पति की भूमिका जैसे प्रश्नों में मानों वे डूब से गए।
इस दौरान उन्होंने दुभाषिए के जरिए महिलाओं से खूब मजाक भी किया। महिलाओं की कुछ बातों पर तो आंख-भौं चमका कर आश्चर्य भी जताया। गेट्स फाउंडेशन के संरक्षण में यहां स्वयं सेवी संस्था द्वारा किए जा रहे कार्यो का मूल्यांकन करने पहुंचे गेट्स ने यहां के गांवों को समझने-परखने की कोई कोशिश नहीं छोड़ी।
हेलीकाप्टर से उतरते ही वे सर्वप्रथम महिला संगठन द्वारा जलछाजन के तहत गांव में तैयार तालाब देखने गए। वहां भी उन्होंने मजाकिया लहजे में पूछा कि इतनी गर्मी में तो यह स्वीमिंग पुल का काम करेगा। फिर वे महिलाओं द्वारा तसर उत्पादन के लिए की गई अर्जुन की खेती भी देखने गए। खेत की मेंढ़ पर चल रहे गेट्स ने साथ चल रहे संस्था के अधिकारियों से पूछा कि इसमें पानी कैसे दिया जाएगा।
आदिवासी महिलाओं ने जब गीत गाकर उनका स्वागत किया तो वे एक नहीं अनेक बार हाऊ स्वीट कहने को विवश हो गए। इतना ही नहीं धूप से बचाने के लिए उनके लिए महिलाओं द्वारा साड़ी से तैयार छतरी को भी वे अजीब नजरों से देखते रहे और कई बार उस देशी छतरी की तारीफ करते रहे। बाद में कुछ बच्चों को देख यह भी जानना चाहा कि उनका टीकाकरण होता है कि नहीं। लगभग डेढ़ घंटे तक पूरी तरह भारतीय अंदाज में चटाई पर जमे बिल गेटस को देख वहां मौजूद अधिकारी भी भौंचक रह गए कि दुनिया का यह अमीर इस तरह भी रह सकता है।
ग्राम्य सुंदरता में खोये गेट्स ने अंतत: इस गांव को और सुंदर बनाने का वचन भी लोगों को दिया। इस मौके पर स्वास्थ्य विभाग के प्रधान सचिव सी एस मिश्रा, अपर समाहत्र्ता राजेंद्र महतो, पुलिस कप्तान श्याम कुमार सहित फाउंडेशन के कई अधिकारी भी वहां मौजूद रहे।
बिल गेट्स ने देखी बिहार की गरीबी
कोसी और आपदा लंबे अरसे से बिल गेट्स के जेहन में है। इसलिए उन्होंने अपनी टीम से कोसी के किसी गांव में जाने की इच्छा जताई थी। खगड़िया में हेलीकाप्टर से उतरकर उन्हें जिस गांव जाना था वहां बिना नदी पार किए नहीं पहुंचा जा सकता था। बिल आगे बढ़कर बिना चप्पू वाली नाव में बैठ गए। कोसी के एक गांव पहुंचने और वहां के लोगों से बात करने के जुनून में बिल ने इस नाव से नदी पार करने के जोखिम की परवाह भी नहीं की। माइक्रोसाफ्ट चेयरमैन दोनों गांवों में बिल गेट्स फाउंडेशन के संरक्षण में स्वयं सेवी संस्थाओं द्वारा स्वास्थ्य और महिला स्वावलंबन के लिए किए जा रहे कार्यो का मूल्यांकन करने पहुंचे थे।
बिल गेट्स ने स्वास्थ्य सेवा से जुड़ी पूरी व्यवस्था पर ग्रामीणों से कई सवाल किए। कई जगह तो उन्हें ग्रामीणों को आश्वस्त करना पड़ा कि स्थिति ठीक नहीं, मैं मुख्यमंत्री से बात करूंगा।
गुलरिया मुसहरी में वह लगभग ढाई घंटे तक टीकाकरण, आंगनबाड़ी केंद्र सहित मिलने वाली स्वास्थ्य सुविधाओं के बारे में सवाल पूछते रहे। जब उन्हें बाढ़ के दिनों में यहां के लोगों की जिंदगी के बारे में बताया गया, तो उनके मुंह से अनायास निकला 'हाउ कैन इट बी पासिबल।' बिल गेट्स को कोसी की धार में लगभग पंद्रह मिनट तक नौका से सफर करना पड़ा। वह यह जानकर हैरान रह गए कि यहां की ज्यादातर महिलाओं का प्रसव घर पर ही होता है।
